Playing for a smaller high school, Eric Hunter doesn’t get a ton of attention like many of his counterparts in the city of Indianapolis. However this summer running with Team Harris on the AAU circuit, Hunter has more than proven his worth.
“I am working on creating and playmaking and scoring to help my team win,” said Hunter of his game. “I know I have to get stronger and finish better through contact, so I am working on that.”
On the recruiting trail things are just now picking up for Hunter who has a long list of schools coming after him.
“I have seen West Virginia, Ohio State, Indiana, Nebraska, Butler, Xavier, Purdue, and other schools,” said Hunter.
He continued, “I have scholarship offers from Xavier, Toledo, IPFW, IUPUI, Ball State, and Kent State.”
During the month of June, Hunter had the chance to make the short trek down the road to Butler for an unofficial visit. While the Bulldogs didn’t offer, they made it clear they’d be tracking Hunter all July long.
“Their message was that they would be watching me,” said Hunter of Butler. “They said they have heard nothing but good things about me and they were looking forward to seeing me.”
Also during June, Hunter had a chance to attend Xavier’s team camp. At the camp Hunter was tremendous, and he said the experience was a good one.
“It was good,” said Hunter of his visit to Xavier. “My team went 2-1 so that was good. It was just a good experience to be there and talk to the coaches.”
For now Hunter is in no hurry to make a college decision, and he intends to take several visits and learn more about all of the schools recruiting him before coming to a final college decision.
