"I've probably known for about the past week but I finally decided to pull the trigger," Amoroso said.
When he sat down to pick his school, seven possibilities emerged: Marquette, Minnesota, Illinois, Creighton, Iowa State, Florida and Michigan State. It was Marquette that appealed to him most in the end.
"The right fit for me is a coaching staff that is, I guess you would call, a player's coaching staff," Amoroso said. "They totally understand where the players are coming from, with a smaller school feel and I think the fact that it was a private school had something to do with it. Also, it was a team that could compete for a national championship and it's not too far from my home here in Minnesota."
The Golden Eagles are coming off a season in which they played in a Final Four but it was the package that impressed Amoroso. "For me personally, [the Final Four] didn't have that much [of an effect]. I didn't say I'm going there because they were in the Final Four. When I sat down and laid down the facts, Marquette was the right fit for me."
Amoroso plays AAU ball for the Minnesota Magic.
