An intriguing 2018 prospect who is starting to see his recruitment pick up is Napa (Calif.) Prolific Prep post Nathan Mensah.
The 6-foot-10, 220-pound Ghana native has very good size and length and decent touch around the basket with the ability to occasionally step out and shoot.
“I’m good on defense,” Mensah said. “I’m trying to pick up my offense; learning how to shoot and my drop step. But I’m good on defense and am known for taking charges.”
Mensah had a successful finish to the July Evaluation Period, picking up his first two offers.
Oregon: “I watched them a lot. They had a guy just like me who blocked shots, ran the floor and rebounded the ball. I like them a lot.”
San Diego State: “Kawhi Leonard went there. Steve Fisher is their coach and I know the Fab Five from Michigan and he did a good job with them.”
The rising junior has taken one visit so far with plans of taking another.
“I went to San Diego State on an unofficial visit and I’d like to see Oregon too,” he said.
Academics will play a big role in Mensah’s ultimate decision.
“I’m looking for a school that has a good business program which will help me achieve my dreams,” Mensah said.
