"Basically all these schools that I narrowed my list to, I didn't want too big of a list," Barcello said. "I looked at everything about the schools. Just how close the relationship I have at these schools."
"They are all great schools," he added. "I knew that they had great coaching staff and I have a great relationship with the coaching staffs at these schools and I know they are great environments to play basketball in and they are great academically. I just felt like these are the schools that I would fit in best."
Barcello discussed what sticks out about each of his five finalists:
Arizona: "I have a great relationship with coach Miller. We've been in constant contact. He likes me a lot. He believes in me. He wants me to be their point guard of the future."
Butler: "I had a pretty close relationship coach [Mike] Schrage when he was over at Stanford when they were recruiting me. I continued that relationship with him. He kind of told coach [Chris] Holtmann about me and they watched me over the summer and he really liked me. They think that I fit their system really well.
Indiana: "They offered when I got back from everything. But I was in constant contact with one of their assistants, coach [Tim] Buckley, coach [Rob] Judson and then also I talk with coach [Tom] Crean too. I was contacted the past couple months and then they offered once I got back from everything. They said that my attitude that I have and the energy that I play with fits their system really well. They believe in their guards. That's what they've been telling me.
Stanford: "I talk with coach [Jerod] Haase a lot. He loves my game. I talk with their whole coaching staff. Coach Haase just built a relationship with me and he wants me to be their building foundation of their future. Them coming to the school and being a new coaching staff they want to get that thing going over there. They just want me to be the point guard of the future and they believe in me."
Virginia: "I've had a great relationship with coach [Tony] Bennett. They were, I think, my second offer. They've been in contact with me since my sophomore year. I think that's when I got an offer from them. They love my game and they know I go out and play my heart out and play 100-percent and they like that over there."
The Tempe (Ariz.) Corona Del Sol standout is starting his first official visit to Butler this evening. He told Scout that he hasn't scheduled any other trips, but is in the process of doing so.
Barcello, who is coming off a big summer with the Oakland Soldiers, is planning to make an early college choice.
"I want to sign November 12th, whenever I feel like the right place or whatever is the right place for me, I'll probably commit then."
