The second visit for Paul Scruggs is in the books. After making an unofficial visit to Indiana earlier in the week, the four-star combo guard made an official visit to Xavier this weekend.
According to Scruggs’ AAU coach Mike Peterson the visit went well.
“The visit went very well,” said Peterson of the visit to Xavier. “Paul and his parents loved it. At an official visit you can dig in from academic life, to social life, to scrimmaging, to hanging out with the guys. Paul really liked it, the family loved it. It was a real good visit.”
One aspect of the visit that stood out is that Xavier is a smaller campus than the other schools on his list, and that appealed to Scruggs and his family.
“The smaller classroom size and individual attention, and just the low key campus, I think everybody was impressed with that and took a liking to it,” noted Peterson.
Along with being a smaller school, Xavier has also sold a major ability for Scruggs to play. With very few guards projected to be on their roster, the opportunity is clear for him to earn immediate playing time.
“As a player he’d have every opportunity to come in and start right away,” said Peterson “They do not have a lot of guards on the roster, so it would be a great opportunity for Paul if he works hard to play a major role.”
Another piece of news coming from the visit is that Scruggs’ visit to Michigan State has been cancelled due to a conflict with Spartans boss Tom Izzo’s schedule. The visits to Connecticut and Illinois remain on as scheduled.
