The Arkansas Razorbacks got tremendous news on Wednesday as class of 2018 prospect Reginald Perry made his commitment to the SEC school. Perry, who was one of the top 16 and under players on the adidas circuit, ran with the Arkansas Hawks this summer and impressed with his combination of size and athleticism.
"Today is special for me as I am publically announcing that I have committed to the University of Arkansas," announced Perry.
Perry, who also had interest from schools such as Florida State, Florida, Auburn, Miami, Mississppi State, and others decided on the Razorbacks early because f the job Mike Anderson and his staff did of recruiting him.
"What stuck out the most to me with Coach Anderson and his staff is the family atmosphere that I am so used to," Perry continued.
For Perry this is a very good stylistic fit. A big athlete who is at his best in the open floor, Perry should fit in very well with what the Razorbacks are trying to do on both ends of the floor. He is capable of stepping out and hitting threes on offense, while also being someone who attacks closeouts well and can score down low. On defense he can defend in the post while also having very good feet which allows him to defend ball screens and cover a lot of ground in a pressing style.
This is a nice early catch for Anderson and his staff. Perry has the ability to fit what they do, and allows them to narrow their focus for the rest of class by having one of their top priorities already committed. Also Perry is a very versatile piece to the puzzle who should help attract other high level players to Fayetteville.
