Three-star 2017 SG Alec Hickman, Cal part ways

Alec Hickman is opening up his recruiting process after the 2017 prospect parted ways with Cal on Monday.

Alec Hickman and California have parted ways, sources have informed Scout, leaving the Golden Bears with two commitments in the 2017 class.

Hickman, a 6-foot-4, 170-pound shooting guard from San Juan Capistrano (Calif.) JSerra, is a three-star prospect who will pick up interest due to his scoring ability.

His AAU coach with Team Eleate, Marvin Lea, says that Hickman is open to everyone.

"He's looking for somewhere high level that has a need for him," Lea said. "Cal had a need. A coach who likes big point guards who can shoot the ball. He doesn't care what part of the U.S."

With Hickman opening up his recruiting process, Cal's 2017 class includes a pair of four-star guards in Jemarl Baker and Juhwan Harris-Dyson.
