Three-star power forward Christian Negron is one of the hardest playing prospects in the country. He combines that motor with toughness, long arms, and very good athleticism, to be someone that has high-major interest and attention. Currently three schools are set to get official visits from Negron.
“I have my first three officials decided,” said Negron. “I am going to Oregon State September 17, DePaul September 30, and then UAB on October 14.”
Though Oregon State is across the country, but there is some familiarity. Negron and Ethan Thompson played together on the Puerto Rican national team this summer, and Thompson is the son of Beavers assistant coach Stevie Thompson.
About the Beavers, Negron said, “Oregon State is interesting because they’re a little outside of my element.” I haven’t really been to that side of the country yet.”
He continued, “Also I like what their coaches have had to say, it’s a plus that they’ve been pretty successful in the past.”
DePaul is a school that has been recruiting Negron for a long time, and also it is close to home.
About the Blue Demons, he said, “There is no question that they have been the most consistent school recruitment me throughout the whole process. I know the coaching staff pretty well and they’re close to home.”
He continued, “They’re making changes to the program with their new arena and new attitude overall that really interest me.”
For now Negron plans on taking all three of his official visits, and he hopes to make a decision around the end of October so that he can sign in the early signing period.
