Three-star prospect Theo John verbally committed to Marquette during a press conference at Champlin (Minn.) Park Senior on Tuesday.
John, a 6-foot-9, 215-pound post player, selected the Golden Eagles over California and Minnesota. He took official visits to all three of his finalists.
During the spring and summer, John played for the loaded Howard Pulley in the Nike EYBL circuit. John averaged 5.8 points, 5.0 rebounds and 1.9 blocks a game.
John is regarded as the No. 29 center prospect in the 2017 class.
Marquette, who may take up to five prospects in this class, now have a pair of pledges in 2017. John joins Michigan native and three-star recruit Ikechukwu Eke.
