Rich Setting Up Visits

Jason Rich has scheduled five official visits. Rich, a Top 40 prospect, kicks off his official visit slate with Southern California.

Maybe better than any prospect in America, Jason Rich has done a tremendous job of managing his recruitment. His list has always been neat and tidy, he's educated about the process and knows what he wants in a school. It's no surprise he's got his list to five schools and four of the visits have already been planned.

"I got five schools," Rich said. "Just some schools didn't feel like it was the right fit and some had too many guards."

Southern Cal (Sept. 6), Florida State (Sept. 13), Georgia Tech (Sept. 20) and Kentucky (Sept. 27) are have firm dates. Indiana will get a visit but does not have one set.

At least publicly, Rich says there is no leader. "I try to treat all of them the same. I'm not trying to jump to any conclusions. Certain schools are showing that they want me more than others."

Rich said that the head coaches from Indiana and Southern Cal and that's different from the approaches of the other three schools. "Paul Hewitt makes it his business. Coach Smith calls as well as some of his assistants. Coach Hamilton calls and he's been down to the school."

And don't think Rich didn't notice who was in the stands in July. "I'd have to say that I've seen Georgia Tech, Kentucky and Florida State [the most]. After things picked up at Kentucky, there wasn't a game that they weren't represented by either Coach Smith or an assistant. Same with Georgia Tech and Florida State."

Rich has a very realistic timetable for his decision. "It's like a domino effect. There's a lot of great players out there who haven't committed yet. If I can get all my visits done after the first weekend of October, then I'm pretty sure I'll have my mind made up."
