Cleveland State Hits The Jackpot

Mike Garland's Cleveland State Vikings received a significant addition on Friday. A transfer center enrolled at the school for this semester and could be ready to roll this fall.

Walter Waters, the No. 95 prospect in our 2003 Top 100, enrolled at Cleveland State this week. According to sources, Waters is in the dorms at Cleveland State and has filed an appeal seeking a ruling on whether or not he can play this season for first-year head coach Mike Garland.

The addition of Walters is a significant one. The third-team Class A all-state prospect is a load in the paint. He's one of those catch, turn and score guys with the kind of size that is rarely recruited in the Horizon League.

Recruited mainly by high-major level programs a year ago, he's the kind of guy who really bring some attention to the Vikings recruiting efforts. He's a player that signed with the Pittsburgh Panthers last season. Not only has Waters been released by the Panthers, but we understand that the Big East school will not block any attempts to make him eligible this season and will put in a good word as far as the appeal goes.

Walters was a multi-year standout with Chris Grier's Michigan Hurricanes team. The 6-9, 270 pounder played last season at Detroit Southeastern.
