When Chris Beard got the job at Texas Tech it was clear that one of the major priorities on the recruiting trail was keeping local product Jarrett Culver at home. The Lubbock native was strongly considering the Red Raiders, and on Thursday night Beard and his staff got the good news.
"I've decided to take my talents to Texas Tech University," Culver announced.
This is big because Culver combined with Hyron Edwards gives the Red Raiders a potentially explosive backcourt. Culver can make shots and has versatility while Edwards is athletic and can really attack the rim.
The speed and athleticism that Culver and Edwards bring is a major upgrade for Texas Tech. Culver also considered Texas and Louisiana Tech along with a host of others, but in the end it was the Red Raiders that kept him at home, and it gives Beard a major early win on the recruiting trail.
