Another recruiting class, another five-star commitment for the Auburn Tigers.
In 2015 and 2016, Auburn has picked up at least one prospect ranked among the top 25 players in the country. On Thursday, according to a source, the Tigers struck in the 2018 class, with the No. 11 recruit in 2018 -- E.J. Montgomery.
Montgomery, who plays with the Atlanta Celtics on the adidas Uprising circuit, took an unofficial visit to Auburn at the beginning of September.
A 6-foot-10, 200-pound forward, Montgomery has impressive mobility, athleticism and and skill for a player of his size. To go with his lofty overall ranking, Montgomery is slotted as the No. 6 power forward in 2018.
"EJ brings a strong combination of size, skill and athleticism to Auburn," Scout analyst Brian Snow said. "He is one of the most naturally gifted players in this class and his upside is huge. The question is can he get his motor running consistently, if he does Auburn is getting one of the best 2018 prospects."
Auburn Associate Head Coach Chuck Person was the lead recruiter in the Montgomery recruit.
Montgomery is Auburn's first pledge of the class.
