4-star point guard Wabissa Bede commits to Virginia Tech

Virginia Tech landed their second top 100 prospect of 2017 with the addition of four-star guard Wabissa Bede.

Four-star recruit Wabissa Bede made a verbal commitment to Virginia Tech on Wednesday, he tells Scout.

“I think I’ll be a big part of the team and they need a point guard and I think I can do that for them,” Bede said.

Bede, a 6-foot-1 point guard, picked the Hokies over Butler, who he visited in late August, UMass and LaSalle. Bede took his official visit to Virginia Tech this past weekend.

"I felt more comfortable with them quicker," Bede told Scout. "They were texting me and talking to them helped me fall more and more for them."

Playing for Mass Rivals this summer, Bede emerged as a high major prospect and rose into Scout's top 100 all the way up to No. 73 overall and No. 15 at his position. Bede showed impressive energy, competitiveness and ability to play multiple guard positions.

This gives Buzz Williams his second top 100 pledge of the class and moves the Hokies up to No. 11 overall in the 2017 recruiting class rankings.

Bede joins No. 56 overall prospect Nickeil Alexander-Walker to make up their current recruiting class.
