Thomas Allen is staying home and going to NC State

Four-star shooting guard Thomas Allen has decided to stay close to home and picked NC State.

The NC State Wolfpack got excellent news on Sunday night as local four-star shooting guard Thomas Allen picked the program. One of the best shooters in the country, Allen has been a priority for NC State since the spring, and following an official visit to the school he made it official and picked the program.

Now attending Brewster Academy, Allen is primed for a big senior season, and it is his quick release, Allen should immediately provide an ability to stretch the floor for Mark Gottfried and his staff.

"He just always wanted to play in the ACC," said Brewster Academy Head Coach Jason Smith. "Being close to home was important to him, and I think he and his family felt that the opportunity to play at NC State for coaches he trusted in a system he can excel in was too much to pass up."

Smith continued about the decision, "Thomas has a good relationship with Coach Gottfried, and I know that he is comfortable with everything about the program, and the allure was clear to him once he made his visit.

Allen picked NC State over Ohio State, St. Louis, and Nebraska.

While he is a bit undersized as compared to a traditional shooting guard, Smith says there is no doubt in his mind that his player can play at the highest level.

"He has been tremendous since he got here," said Smith of Allen. "I know some will question him because of his size, but his ability to shoot the basketball is special. I expect him to do great things for us as a player, and then continuing at NC State."

Allen is considered a four-star prospect who is just outside of the top 100.
