2018 recruit Ronaldo Segu raised his profile at the John Lucas Midwest Invitational this past weekend.
What stood out the most about Segu, a 5-foot-11 point guard out of Orlando (Fla.) Christian Prep, was his feel for the game and ability to operate when he was put in pick and roll situations.
“I’ve just been working in Florida every morning at 5:30,” Segu said. “So we’ve just been working on that cause not a lot of guards can play off that so I been working on the pick and roll action.”
“When I’m at my best, I’m a pass first point guard,” he added. “There’s not a lot of those so I commit myself to doing that and just trying to get my team involve.”
When Segu got to Louisville for the camp, he slid over to UofL’s campus for an unofficial visit.
“I just took a visit when I got here Friday to Louisville,” he said. “It’s pretty nice. They started recruiting me recently. They just needed another point gaurd that could be a pass-first and get their team involved, penetrate the paint and kick out.”
Segu went back to Louisville's campus on Monday to watch them practice. To go with their interest, Segu holds a handful of scholarship offers.
“It’s going pretty good,” he said about his recruitment. “I have offers from Florida State, UCF, Murray State, VCU, FIU and there’s a couple others.”
If Segue continues to play like he did at the Midwest Invitational that offer list is sure to grow.
