Mick Cronin and the Cincinnati Bearcats got good news on Tuesday night. On the first day of practice for the Bearcats, Cronin and his staff dipped into New York City and landed one of their top priorities on the wing.
Cincinnati got a commitment from Keith Williams over offers from Dayton and Oklahoma State. Williams had a very good summer with New Heights on the Under Armour Association where he averaged 15 points and 4.3 rebounds per game.
At around 6-foot-5, Williams has the ability to make shots from deep along with the toughness and athleticism to get to the rim.
While Williams doesn’t possess one standout skill, he does everything average or better, and combines that with a good motor and an obvious love of the game when he is on the court.
Williams should fit in extremely well with the Bearcats and Cronin’s style. Cronin has always wanted a team full of high energy versatile defenders who play with toughness, and that is what Williams is, and he adds in some scoring ability as well.
Currently Williams is the third commitment for Cronin in this class. He joins Texas wing shooter Trevor Moore and Canadian big man Eliel Nsoseme in what should be one of the better recruiting classes in the American Conference.
