Travis Ford has been working hard on the recruiting trail since the day he arrive at Saint Louis. One of the players that Ford and his staff keyed in on early was three-star power forward Hasahn French. Though slightly undersized, French is someone who has a tremendous motor and a lot of toughness, and on Monday he picked the Billikens.
In the end it came down to Saint Louis or fellow Atlantic 10 rival Massachusetts. Schools such as Marquette and Minnesota were in the mix at different points in time during the recruitment, but the Billikens had been as consistent as anyone. French made an unofficial visit to the school during June, and from there the Billikens kept the heat on.
French had cited his relationship with Ford and the staff as a huge reason for the Billikens always at or near the top of the list, and in the end it was that relationship that won out.
Look for French to now bring his trademark toughness and athleticism to the floor. He is a bit shorter than ideal, however French should fit in very well in the Atlantic 10, and has all-league type potential as he goes along in his career.
This is another piece to what is a big time recruiting class for Saint Louis. The Billikens have top 60 wing Jordan Goodwin already committed, and both and he and French could be the building blocks for Ford as he hopes to bring the program back to where it was under Rick Majerus.
