Robert Phinisee talks Hoosier Hysteria and potential upcoming visit

One of the top floor generals in the class, Robert Phinisee continues to get major attention and is making unofficial visits

Four-star point guard Robert Phinisee continues to be one of the top players in Indiana’s 2018 class. The high level floor general recently made another visit to Indiana for Hoosier Hysteria, and another trip could be coming up soon.

“It was a great experience,” said Phinisee of Hoosier Hysteria. “Seeing all the fans connect with players, it was a great atmosphere and I had a good time.”

This is Phinisee’s second visit to Indiana in a short period of time, and he says that his relationship is very strong with the coaches in Bloomington.

“I have a great relationship with them,” noted Phinisee. “It is a strong relationship and they feel that I could come in and play right away if I continue to work hard. It is a great school, and I feel like it could be a good situation for me.”

Another school that Phinisee has seen recently is Purdue. Living minutes from the campus it is an easy trip for Phinisee, and he continues to build a strong bond with the Purdue coaches.

“They contact me a lot,” said Phinisee of Purdue. “I went there to watch practice last Saturday and that was good. The relationship is strong with them. I think if I went there I could come in and start right away since P.J. (Thompson) would be graduating and Carsen (Edwards) is more of a combo guard.”

Another school that has had Phinisee on campus is Butler. The Bulldogs continue to make him a priority, and he likes how they play.

“It is a great style of play,” said Phinisee of Butler. “Their point guard is graduating this year so I could play right away. Also Coach (Chris) Holtmann coming in (Tuesday), so that is good that he is recruiting me so hard.”

Another school that has picked things up recently is Virginia. Tony Bennett and his staff continue to recruit hard in the state of Indiana, and Phinisee could be making a trip out to see the ACC school soon.

“They are usually a top 10 team in the country so that is a big thing,” said Phinisee of Virginia. “Coach Bennett is one of the most respected coaches in the country and he has a great coaching staff. I know they are really interested in me, and I might go there this weekend to visit.”

At this point Phinisee says he is just in the information gathering stage and says he doesn’t feel he is close to making any kind of decision.

“I am just taking it all in and enjoying the process,” said Phinisee. “I don’t think I’ll make a decision any time soon.”
