"I just felt comfortable with the coaching staff, the players and even down to the managers," Lawrence said. "I just had a good vibe with everybody. I really believe what they are saying and will help me get to the next level. I think it's going to be a good situation for me."
After taking multiple fall visits to ASU, Lawrence selected the Sun Devils on Saturday afternoon at the Davy Lopes Rec Center in Providence (R.I.), where he grew up playing basketball.
"I knew I kind of wanted to go there when I first took my official, but I didn't know if I was just excited because it was my official, so I wanted to make sure and see other schools," he said.
Lawrence picked Arizona State over Florida and USC. Lawrence took official visits to all three schools.
Lawrence, a standout at New Hampton (N.H.) Prep, is regarded as the No. 54 overall prospect and No. 11 small forward in the country.
"I think I'll be able to do a lot of things," Lawrence said. "I can play multiple positions and guard multiple positions and also score the ball. I think I'm versatile enough to play with anybody. They can really build around me."
Arizona State now holds commitments from a pair of top 100 commitments. Lawrence joins four-star and No. 98 overall player Remy Martin to make up their current class.
