Petty selected the Crimson Tide over Kentucky. Although he took multiple unofficial visits to UK, he didn’t take an official visit. The only official visit he took was to Alabama during the weekend of August 26th.
Avery Johnson made Petty, a standout at Jemison (Ala.) High, one of his top priorities when he took over the job and it paid off.
Petty played for Team Penny on the Nike EYBL circuit this past spring and summer. Through 23 games, Petty averaged 13.2 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.9 assists.
Petty, a 6-foot-5 shooting guard, is ranked No. 44 overall and No. 9 at his position.
With the addition of Petty, plus five-star guard Collin Sexton today as well, Alabama moves to No. 2 in Scout’s 2017 recruiting class rankings. Petty and Sexton join four-star forward Alex Reese and local standout Herb Jones to make up their current class.
