Texas, Duke, and Florida State are three schools that could make noise in the late signing period

Here is a look at three schools currently ranked outside the top 10 of the class rankings who could make a move now that the fall signing period is over.

The fall signing period is now in the rear view, and there are still 15 of the top 100 uncommitted in the class 2017. While one of those will come off the board on Wednesday, Wendell Carter, the rest appear to be waiting a little while. Here is a look at three programs that could make a huge jump in the class rankings during the spring.

Currently sitting outside the top 10, Duke is a school that isn’t used to only having two early commitments, but they seem to be the school with the most upward potential. At the moment Duke sits at No. 13 in the class rankings, but they could easily find a path to No. 1.

Most expect Duke to land the No. 4 overall prospect in Carter, and that alone will jump them clearly into the top 10, but the expectation is the Blue Devils won’t stop there.

Along with Carter, Duke seems to be the leader for top 10 prospect Kevin Knox, they are at worst in the top two for high four-star prospect Matt Coleman, and then they also remain in the discussion for a guy like Mohamed Bamba.

While it is still unknown how many prospects Duke will really make a run at, the Blue Devils are the school that could make the biggest jump in the recruiting rankings during the spring, and at worst they should find their way into the top three of the class rankings.

Another school that is laying in the weeds but could make a huge run is Florida State. Many have dismissed the Seminoles over the years, but Leonard Hamilton is one of the elite recruiters in the game, and Florida State has several irons in the fire.

Along with Duke, Florida State is considered a leader for Knox. Knox is a legacy to the school, and has long held the Seminoles in high regard.

Also Florida State is very much in the mix with five-star wing M.J. Walker and four-star shot blocker Ike Obiagu.

While it is tough to say that Florida State is the favorite for any of the three individually, the Seminoles are in a solid position with all of them, and that could lead to a big move in the spring, and potentially a spot in the top 10 of the class rankings.

One more school that could make a huge move is Texas. Now the Longhorns will have to battle to get into the top 10 with some powers on the recruiting trail, but Shaka Smart and his staff have proven to be able to compete against anybody in recruiting.

Texas along with Duke are the favorites for Coleman, and it is clear right now how bad the Longhorns need a point guard, so clearly they are going to pursue him until the very end.

Also Texas is right there for Bamba. In fact some behind the scenes feel that Texas might be the team to beat for Bamba as we head out of fall.

Beyond Bamba and Coleman, four-star shooter Chuck O'Bannon Jr. has the Longhorns in his final four, and Texas will have a chance there.

Again it won’t be easy for Texas to land any of the three, but even landing one, especially if it is Coleman or Bamba, should jump the Longhorns into the top 10 of the class rankings.
