Foster Loyer

Point guard Foster Loyer has made his college decision

Point guard Foster Loyer has made his decision and he will stay close to home and play in the Big Ten.

Point guard Foster Loyer doesn't bring great size to the table, but he is as tough as they come and has a tremendous basketball IQ. Now he knows his future will be in the Big Ten at Michigan State.

Loyer, who helped lead All-Ohio Red to the Peach Jam 16 and under title, is a high level shooter who can defend and has the ability to really pass the basketball. While he isn't the most athletically gifted player, Loyer is someone who has proven himself at the high school at AAU level against top players, and turned himself into one of the best 2018 PG's in the Midwest.

Playing at Clarkston (Mich) High School, Loyer's coach is Dan Fife, father of Michigan State assistant Dane Fife. That relationship led to a familiarity between the Spartans and Loyer, and now he is officially a member of Tom Izzo's program.

"I am excited to announce that I am committing to Michigan State," said Loyer.

Other schools such as Michigan, Ohio State, and DePaul all recruited Loyer, but the Spartans were seen as the team to beat for quite some time.

This is the second commitment for the Spartans in the 2018 class as he joins fellow in-state product Thomas Kithier in Michigan State's growing class.
