One of the top unsigned seniors on the West Coast is Devante Doutrive, a 6-foot-4, 175-pound shooting guard from Van Nuys (Calif.) Birmingham.
The 2016 prospect has a terrific frame with long arms and plus athleticism. He exited the summer as one of the top scorers in the region but on Monday at the Redondo Union Pacific Shores tournament showed he’s come a long way as a passer as well.
“I think I bring a lot of hustle and energy as a scorer and rebounder. I’ve been passing it well too,” Doutrive said. “I’m trying to work on my defense and all of my outside game; my shooting, defense and passing.”
Doutrive doesn’t have any offers yet but that is sure to change. He says that Long Beach State and UTEP are recruiting him, while Boise State and Nebraska are amongst the schools which watched him on Monday.
While Doutrive’s recruitment has yet to materialize as much as it will, he says he’ll ultimately choose the best place for him regardless of level.
“I just want a good program that I can fit into,” he said.
