According to Glick, Gay has set home visits with each of them. St. John's and Villanova come in on Sept 13. Kentucky, Connecticut, Syracuse and Clemson come the following day. Georgetown comes on the 16th and Maryland on the 18th.
"What he'll do is after those 8 schools come in, he'll reassess and narrow the list to 3-4 and he'll make official visits in September of October," Glick said. For the most part, Gay will use the in-homes to pick his visits.
However, according to our sources, Connecticut is likely to host him on an official visit Sept. 20; the rest are still to be determined.
Gay returns to Spalding for his second season. Last year, he averaged 13 points and 7 rebounds.
A changing body and ever-improving game vaulted him from our pre-summer Top 25 and into the Top 10.
"I could see it coming because of his work ethic," Glick said. "He's an extremely hard worker both on the court and in the weight room. He gained about an inch and a half and 10-12 pounds before our season ended. Rudy's constantly trying to improve himself.
"Some people don't realize this but Rudy just turned 17 last week. The scary thing is how much better will Rudy get in the next year?"
As strong as he is on the court, he's taking measures to bulk up his academic transcript as well. Apparently, his summer school courses went well. "Rudy made a strong commitment to his academics during the summer and he put himself in position where he'd be a qualifier."
