On the opening night of the Gonzaga DC Classic, 2018 center prospect Moses Brown stood above all, both literally and figuratively.
Brown, who stands just over 7-feet tall, was sensational in Briarwood (N.Y.) Archbishop Molloy’s win over St. Stephen St. Agnes, scoring 20 points, grabbing 15 rebounds and blocking seven shots.
“I think I played well,” Brown told Scout after the game. “I could have played better and more physical. I shouldn’t have let their big man seal me off so much, but I helped my team win.”
Brown was as active as we’ve seen him. He consistently ran rim to rim, went after rebounds with some tenacity and protected the rim.
“I’ve been training a lot on my mobility and it’s just staying healthy and just feeling better on the court,” Brown said. “It’s helping me jump around a lot.”
Brown already ranks as the No. 32 overall prospect and No. 3 center in the 2018 class, but he’s looked primed for a rise in the rankings. Brown said he’s trying to show a more advanced game this season.
“Really my versatility, shooting 15-footers and not just being a post up big man,” he said when asked what he was trying to prove this season.
Attention on the recruiting front continues to pick up.
“Everybody has been all over me since the beginning of the school year,” Brown said.
