One of the best young post prospects in the class of 2019 in Makhi Mitchell. The big man from the Washington D.C. area has tremendous touch around the rim, good hands, and good size for the position. Now he is working to diversify his game and become even tougher to guard.
“I’m trying to not just show my low post skills,” said Mitchell. “I am working to be more versatile. I know I still have to be on the low post most of the time, but I also want to diversify my game and show an improved jumper.”
In terms of his recruitment, Mitchell has significant early interest, but one school is showing the most attention.
Both Georgetown and Maryland were present to scout Mitchell at the DMV Tip-Off over the weekend.
About the Hoyas, Mitchell said, “I like Coach (Kevin) Broadus and the staff. Also Coach John Thompson has been great. They are just trying to get me to feel like Georgetown is home. I am getting to know the players better and things like that.
When asked about Maryland, Mitchell responded, “I haven’t heard as much from Maryland. I have been there a few times for games, but they seem to be focused on 2017 and 2018 right now.”
Mitchell has to continue to work himself into shape in order to take advantage of his numerous physical gifts, and when he does that he could be a force on the low block for a long time.
