In the Washington D.C. area one of the guards in the 2019 class with the most college ready skillset is Sherif Kenney. A physically imposing guard, Kenney is working to improve his all-around game, and continues to add college interest.
“I think I have been playing well,” said Kenney of the season. “I am working more on my jump shot. Everybody knows I like to drive, so I have been working hard on my jump shot so I can be a more complete scorer.”
One school that has been recruiting Kenney especially hard is Penn State. Penn State has made recruiting in the Washington D.C. area a focus the past several years, and Kenny is one of their prime targets.
“Penn State is telling me to continue to work hard and continue to do well with my grades,” said Kenney of Penn State. “I don’t know a ton about the program, but I like the coaches and what they are saying.”
Another school making Kenney a priority is Kansas State. Under Frank Martin and Bob Huggins the Wildcats had a ton of success in the D.C. area, and they are again trying to recreate that with Kenny.
“They are a good program, and I know this year’s team is working hard,” said Kenney of Kansas State. “Also they say they are all about family and I like that.”
A decision is still a long way down the road for Kenney, but he does know what he will look for in a school when the time comes to make his choice.
“I pay attention to the type of style they play, how committed they are to defense, and the attitude of the players they have at the school,” noted Kenney.
