Mejia Looking At Three

Voorhees (NJ) Eastern combo guard Dom Mejia probably won't stray too far from home when he picks a college. He's currently looking at some Big East programs and one school in the America East.

Rutgers, Seton Hall, Hartford Take Their Shots

Dom Mejia attended the 2001 adidas ABCD Camp, but it was in Las Vegas at the Big Time where he really excelled. While playing with the Gym Rats, Mejia proved himself as a scorer and shot maker. He also showed that he could play some point and as the focal point of his team, accepted the challenged and competed hard.

Right now, he's receiving attention from Rutgers, Seton Hall and Hartford. "I've visited Rutgers and Seton Hall unofficially. On Sunday, Rutgers had a home visit with my family and the day before that Hartford came."

Mejia is set to make a visit to Seton Hall Sept. 29 and could visit Rutgers as well. Hartford would do well for itself if the Hawks can get him on campus. However, Mejia might not be venturing that far from home.

As we said, he has value as a combo guard and the schools recruiting him feel the same way. "Some are recruiting me at the point and some at the two, but they'll have me playing both." Last year, he averaged 23 points a game. "This year I'm going to average 30," Mejia said jokingly. "But we have to win, though."

Expect Mejia to sign sometime during the early fall period.
