Colleges Are Taking A Look
Renardo Dixon is about to become a popular young man. There's a good chance he might not know it yet, but he will soon. Despite weighing just 180 pounds, expect Dixon to garner his fair share of attention from mid and high-major schools.
The former Elsik player displayed a nice short-range touch and long frame during a recent workout at Hargrave. He's bouncy and explosive and that means lots of athleticism fills his light frame. We only were able to watch him in practice and not in game situations, so our review is tempered. But, colleges are making their rounds to Hargrave and many like what they see in his potential.
Hargrave first-year head coach Mike Preston agrees. "I think in two years, he could be the best one of the bunch," Preston said when speaking of Dixon in the context of his team.
Dixon failed his freshman year of high school, thus the reason he's at Hargrave for a fifth-year. And, from listening to him talk, he's going to use the extra year wisely. "I feel like I know have another chance to play," Dixon said.
Marshall, Hampton and Virginia Tech have seen him. Arkansas was interested but just took commitments from two forwards and while he says Texas is on his list, it's unlikely the Longhorns will recruit him.
In a year when big man prospects are few and far between, Dixon will likely draw plenty of attention before the season begins at Hargrave.
