Class of 2018 wing Demetrius Mims was impressive at the loaded Slam Dunk to the Beach event. Despite a loss for his team, Mims showed a refined offensive game, and looked the part of someone who will continue to add significant high-major attention.
“I’ve been trying to give it my all,” said Mims about the start to his season. “If I give it my all I am okay with whatever outcome I have. I have just been working on not turning the ball over and my jump shot.”
He continued about his play, “Also I am just trying to move better without the ball and finding new ways to score.”
On the recruiting trail Mims has a handful of offers, with several other schools showing him attention.
“I have offers from Robert Morris, St. John’s, VCU, Old Dominion, and Towson,” said Mims. “Also I have interest from Maryland, Dayton, Kansas State and a few others.”
So far this season Mims hasn’t been to any college games, and he plans to take his time with a decision, but he does know what he will be looking for in a school.
“I like colleges that are like a family,” said Mims. “I want to go to a place where everything is together and everyone is a family. It is all about that, because being a family is how you win in the game of basketball.”
Currently Mims is considered the No. 18 shooting guard in the class of 2018.
