Kahlil Whitney made a statement with his play at Slam Dunk to the Beach

LEWES, DE - Five-star wing Khalil Whitney showed off an even more refined game on Tuesday at Slam Dunk to the Beach

Class of 2019 wing Khalil Whitney is excelling at Roselle Catholic in New Jersey. After starring as a freshman in Chicago, Whitney is now doing the same at Roselle, and was very impressive at the Slam Dunk to the Beach event.

“The season has been going good,” said Whitney of the year. “We have a few wins under our belt. We just have to keep playing better and be focused on every game.”

About his own game and improvement, Whitney said, “I’ve been trying to put the ball on the floor more and be more of a slasher and scorer to go with being able to shoot.”

On the recruiting trail numerous schools have offered the five-star Whitney, and others are coming in and making him a priority.

Syracuse offered, St. John's offered, Connecticut is going to offer, Illinois-Chicago, Kansas should offer at the end of next month, UNLV, New Mexico State, Illinois, and Rutgers has been on me very hard,” said Whitney.

St. John’s was at his opening game at Slam Dunk to the Beach, and Whitney says he likes the Big East program.

“It is a great program,” said Whitney of the Red Storm. “One of my former teammates, Marcus LoVett, plays at St. John’s and I know he likes it there. It is an up and coming program for sure with a lot of great talent on the roster.”

About Syracuse, he said, “I like the coaches there. The coaches let you play. Coach Hopkins, I like his energy, and I like that whole coaching staff.”

Also Rutgets continues to recruit Whitney extremely hard. “They are talking to me and my coaches a lot. They have come in to see me, and I know they are working to build their program back up.”

One school that hasn’t yet offered, but likely will soon is Kansas. The Jayhawks have been recruiting Whitney since he was in Chicago, and don’t seem to be slowing down at all.

“They recently got a commitment from my AAU point guard Markese Jacobs,” said Whitney. “They have been talking to me about joining him and stuff like that, so it is good.”

For now Whitney is in no hurry to make a decision. When the time does come for him to decide, there is no doubt he will have numerous high level options to choose from.
