Four-star forward Brandon Slater is one of the most versatile prospects in the class of 2018. Slater has the requisite size and athleticism to play multiple roles on the basketball court, and high-major programs are zeroing in on him as a recruiting target.
“The team has been playing great,” said Slater of his high school season. “I am just working to be more consistent and work on being a better teammate. I know I have to be more consistent with my jump shot, and be a better defender.”
On the recruiting trail a host of high level schools are making Slater a priority recruit.
One of the schools recruiting Slater the hardest is Villanova. The defending national champs have been at several of his games and remain in close contact.
“I have a good relationship with them,” said Slater of the Villanova staff. “They stay in touch with my family and my friends, and they have a good relationship with everybody around me. I like the coaching staff and how they play.”
Also locally Maryland has picked up the interest and continues to be a school showing significant attention.
“It is close to home, and to have them recruiting me so hard means a lot,” noted Slater of the Terps. “They’ve been keeping in touch with me and telling me how I would fit in, so I like them a lot.”
Look for Slater to make some spring and summer visits before coming to a decision on where he wants to play his college basketball.
