Allen Visits, Has A Leader

Two-time Mr. Basketball Andre Allen took his first official visit last weekend and wouldn't you know it, one Conference USA school leads for him.

Andre Allen, the point guard for the national champion Memphis YOMCA program, made his initial official visit last weekend and it was to a Conference USA program. The Houston Cougars played host to him.

"Well, I took a visit to Houston over the weekend," Allen said. "It went well. The coaching staff was nice and I get along with the staff. It's a big town and the school was great. I know they're trying to rebuild their program."

The Cougars are looking to the city of Memphis for a recruiting boost this year. Word has it that in addition to Allen, they'd love to pluck Frank Holmes from the town as well.

At this point, Houston leads for Allen. "They're showing the most interest."

The guard said that he hasn't set up any other official visits but is hearing the most from Tennessee and Indiana. To date, neither has set up an in-home visit with him to the best of his knowledge but he says that he feels like both have offered.

The two-time Mr. Basketball and state MVP in the 9th grade, says he'd like to take some more visits just to know how the other schools are.
