Combo guard Paul Scruggs was off to a tremendous start at Prolific Prep this season, however a knee injury derailed things. Scruggs is hoping to be back in the next couple of weeks, and is looking forward to showing how he has improved.
“The season was going outstanding,” said Scruggs of the season. “As a team we are playing well, and individually before I got injured I was playing great, and I can’t wait to get back.”
Making the transition from scoring guard to point guard is something that Scruggs has been doing for a while, and he knows he still has a few things to work on.
“My focus has been as a leader,” said Scruggs. “I was named a captain, so I know I have to be a leader. Also I want to be more vocal as a point guard.”
Scruggs is one of the crown jewels of Xavier’s top 10 ranked 2017 recruiting class. Scruggs continues to stay in close contact with the Xavier staff, and can’t wait to get to Cincinnati.
“They check in on me all the time and see how I am doing,” said Scruggs of his communication with the coaches. “We continue to build a great relationship. They always ask me about my rehab and my grades, and basically just check in on me.”
About getting to Xavier, Scruggs said, “I just can’t wait to get there. I am ready for the challenge. I am just looking forward to having a great season with Xavier.”
For now though the focus for Scruggs is to get back on the court this year and help Prolific Prep.
When it comes to his rehab and how his knee is feeling, Scruggs said, “My knee feels good. I am just back in rehab and working as hard as I can. I can walk on it now, and there is no pain. I just want to get back so bad.”
