The 2019 class in the state of Georgia is looking good so far, and one of the key players in the group is Elias King. King is now attending Huntington (WV) Prep, and is showing how talented he is.
“The season is going great,” said King. “Coming from Atlanta, everything has gone well. I was coming off the bench, and now I am starting, so it has been great.”
He continued, “I am mainly working to improve my ball handling and my decision making. At first I was a short guard, but since I have grown, so now I am rebounding better and just trying to get better all around.”
On the recruiting trail numerous schools are showing King significant early interest.
He continued, “I was at Indiana last month and I’ve been to Auburn a lot, and also Georgia Tech.”
Auburn has been extremely active in Georgia on the recruiting trail recently, and King is impressed by Bruce Pearl and the school.
“Auburn, they came at me early,” said King. “They’ve been recruiting me since I was a ninth grader. Bruce Pearl is a great guy and he has been talking to my AAU coaches and my parents, so I like them a lot.”
Also since getting hired Josh Pastner has been working hard to keep Atlanta kids close to home, and King has been one of his early priorities.
“Coach Pastner is a great coach,” noted King. “He just gives me pointers, and talks to me about staying home and being close to family and being a hometown hero and stuff like that.”
When it comes to Indiana, the Hoosiers made a good impression on King when he made it to Bloomington.
“The Indiana trip was great,” explained King. “There were a lot of people there, and the crowd was into it. I could definitely see myself playing there with the passion they have for the program.”
Look for King to be someone who gets a lot of consideration when the class of 2019 rankings are updated in the near future.
