Three pick up recruitment of five-star 2018 Mater Dei center Bol Bol

Scout's 16th ranked 2018 prospect, Bol Bol has lived up to his reputation since arriving in SoCal from Kansas. Three schools have recruited the five-star center the hardest since he arrived at Mater Dei.

Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei received big news in late January when transfer Bol Bol was made eligible for his junior season.

The 7-foot-2, 220-pound center, ranked 16th in the 2018 class by Scout, has big time length with a 7-foot-8 wingspan, is a plus athlete who can block shots, rebound and score around the basket.

Bol, the son of former NBA center Manute Bol, more than solidified his status as one of the top prospects in 2018 this weekend at the Nike Extravaganza.

The five-star prospect is pleased with how his move to California from Kansas has worked out so far.

“It’s been pretty good,” Bol said. “I’m playing well. I’m doing a good job blocking shots and rebounding. I’m working on everything still.”

Bol said since he arrived at Mater Dei, three schools have been recruiting him the hardest.

Arizona, UCLA and USC,” listed Bol, before breaking down what he knows about each of them.

Arizona: “They came to visit me not too long ago and offered me. I’m going to take a visit there probably after the season. I talk to coach (Joe) Pasternack.”

UCLA: “I took an unofficial visit there and it was pretty good. They have a nice campus and the team right now is good.”

USC: “I haven’t taken a visit there yet. Their coaches have been telling me to take a visit but I’ve been busy.”

Bol has yet to decide if he wants to stay in the west for college or go closer to his original home in Kansas.

“I’m not sure yet,” he said. “I just want to go to a good school.”
