Five-star point guard Ayo Dosunmu was very good at the Bank of O’Fallon Shootout. Dosunmu, who is one of the best athletes in the country at his position, has a host of high level interest and continues to work to refine his game.
“It has been a good season,” Dosunmu said of his junior year. “We are just getting ready for the city playoffs, and hoping to finish off the season strong.”
He continued about his season, “I have been working hard on making jump shots and shooting off the dribble. I have always been best getting to the rim, so I am working to be better as a shooter.”
When it comes to his recruitment, many schools have issued offers to Dosunmu, but he says four are currently showing him the most attention.
Northwestern could be on the verge of their first NCAA Tournament, and their success is something that Dosunmu is paying close attention to.
“I really like their program,” said Dosunmu of Northwestern. “They are winning now. They have a good group of guys, and it is close to home, so I like them a lot.”
Illinois was one of Dosunmu’s first major offers, and the Illini continue to build a strong bond with the in-state floor general.
“It is pretty much my hometown school,” said Dosunmu of Illinois. “I like them a lot. They have a nice recruiting class coming in, and I have been talking to Coach (Paris) Parham and Coach (John) Groce a lot.”
Two Big East programs are also showing Dosunmu significant attention.
About Xavier, Dosunmu said, “They are a winning program who likes to run. Also I have a good relationship with Coach (Luke) Murray and I like their style of play a lot.”
When asked about Creighton, he responded, “I talk to Coach (Steve) Lutz a lot, and he has been to a lot of my games. I like how they really push the tempo and get up and down and run.”
For now Dosunmu says he is in no hurry to make a college decision, and is willing to listen to everybody who is recruiting him.
“I have talked to my parents and we decided I should wait to make any decision,” said Dosunmu.
