Combo forward Justin Winston is one of the more intriguing 2018 prospects in the state of New Jersey. His versatility makes him one college coaches will watch closely as he continues to refine his skill set.
“This year I’ve just been trying to work on my post game and working on playing inside and out,” said Winston of his junior season. “Also I have been focused on playing hard every possession.”
When it comes to his recruitment, a handful of schools remain in close contact with him.
Winston has attended a few games this year at Seton Hall, and he says he is building a solid relationship with the coaching staff.
“I like how they play hard and that it is close to home,” said Winston of Seton Hall. “Also their coaching staff has been recruiting me hard which I like.”
Also Winston is very interested in Rutgers. The Scarlet Knights continue to try and build with New Jersey prospects, and Winston is one they are taking a long look at in 2018.
“Coach (Steve) Pikiell is a good guy,” said Winston of Rutgers. “I don’t know too much about them, but they are talking to me a lot, and recruiting me, so I am trying to build a good relationship with them.”
Another school that Winston is very interested in is Pittsburgh. The reason for that is simple, Winston sees himself like current Pitt star, Mike Young.
“I like Pitt because of Mike Young,” said Winston. “When I talk to the coaches they say I can fill his spot and come in and have a huge impact.”
At the moment Winston says he isn’t close to making a decision, but he does know the main factor for him when it will come time to choose a school.
“I just want to go to a program that wins,” said Winston. “Winning is the biggest thing I look for, and then also a place I can contribute as a freshman.”
