Three recruiting Top 75 2018 SG Robby Carmody hardest

Scout's 75th ranked prospect in 2018, Robby Carmody, has three schools recruiting him the hardest. The four-star shooting guard updates his recruitment.

One of 2018’s top shooting guards comes from Mars (Pa.) Area in Robby Carmody.

The 6-foot-4, 190-pound wing, ranked 75th by Scout, is pleased with his progression as a junior.

“I think I played really well,” Carmody said. “I made a lot of strides in my game. I expanded from just scoring.”

The four-star prospect says his motor is one of his best assets.

“I think right now how hard I play is what I bring to the court the most because I make a lot of little plays that others aren’t willing to do like dive on the court,” Carmody said. “I’m not going to back down from anyone; I’ll guard anyone from point guard to center.

“I’m working on handling the ball a lot better; I think I can become more of a primary ball handler.”

Carmody says that some of the schools actively involved in his recruitment are Penn State, Penn, Pitt, Syracuse, Notre Dame, Michigan, Butler and Purdue.

Of that group, three are working especially hard on him.

“Probably Purdue, Syracuse and Butler are recruiting me the hardest,” Carmody said, before he broke down what he likes about each of them.

Purdue: “I think the way they play fits my style really well. They have a lot of tough hardnosed guys and I think I would fit into that really well.”

Syracuse: “They usually have a hardnosed, tough shooting guard. Gerry McNamara, Trevor Cooney, guys like that. They think I can come in and take that role.”

Butler: “Same thing as Purdue. They have a lot of hardnosed guys who come out and will fight you every possession on the floor and I think that’s my strength right now.”

Carmody doesn’t have plans of dragging out his recruitment.

“I want to be done before my senior year,” he said. “I’m looking for the right fit for me and my family, from academics to our relationship with coaching staff and how I would fit in as a player and person.”
