Four-star point guard Tremont Waters has asked for his release from Georgetown

Bad news came for Georgetown on Saturday as Tremont Waters asked for his release from the school.

A big problem for the Georgetown Hoyas the last few years has been consistent point guard play. The Hoyas felt they landed the answer to that question in the fall when Tremont Waters signed with the school. Waters, who is the No. 35 prospect overall, is one of the best playmakers in the class.

However after initially landing waters over IndianaKansas, and Kentucky, Georgetown has now lost that pledge.

"Tremont has asked for his release," said a source close to the situation.

According to the source the release is expected to be granted, and Waters will be free to pursue a new opportunity.

At this point there is no specific knowledge on who will be in the mix for Waters, but as the best point guard available outside of Trevon Duval, expect the list of schools interested to be long. Many power programs could be looking for a floor general with ability, and Waters is just that.

This is a huge blow to the Georgetown class, as he was their highest rated recruit in several years.
