NC State center Omer Yurtseven will declare for the NBA Draft, but not sign with an agent leaving open the possibility of returning to school, he told Scout on Tuesday.

NC State center Omer Yurtseven will declare for the NBA Draft, but not sign with an agent leaving open the possibility of returning to school, he told Scout on Tuesday.

"I want to test the waters and try to make my dream, which is going to the NBA, but I also want to remain eligible to continue to school because my classes and education off the court is important for me too," Yurtseven said.

Yurtseven, a former five-star recruit, averaged 5.9 points and 4.4 rebounds for NC State through 22 games this past season.

Yurtseven missed the first nine games of NC State's season due to eligibility issues, stemming from playing for Fenerbahçe in Turkey. Yurtseven turned down a significant professional contract with the team to play college basketball

Despite rumors, Yurtseven says going back to Turkey to play professionally isn't in the cards right now.

"No, I don't think so," he said.

Yurtseven entered NC State with a decorated background and was looked at as a potential first round pick, although the latest mock drafts don't have him slotted as a first rounder at this time.

Yurtseven played for Turkey in the 2016 u20 European Championship, where he averaged 10.4 points and 5.6 rebounds. Yurtseven also played in the 2015 u18 European Championships and the 2014 Jordan Brand International game.
