Andy Kennedy and the Mississippi Rebels were able to snag a key pledge on Monday. They landed the commitment of junior college big man Bruce Stevens. Stevens, who emerged as a high-major priority target this year, selected the Rebels after meeting with Kennedy.
At 6-foot-8 and around 250 pounds, Stevens has the size to be ready to make an immediate impact. Ole Miss scouted him throughout the year, and made him a priority to add size and maturity to their frontcourt. Stevens will likely see the majority of his time at the center position, but also has the ability to slide to the power forward slot as well.
During the season, Stevens put up very impressive numbers. He averaged 16.2 points and 11.6 rebounds per contest while shooting 51.9 percent from the floor and 37.5 percent from three point range. Because of that he should be able to stretch defenses to go along with banging on the low block.
In the fall Stevens visited Arkansas Little Rock, and most recently was offered by Georgetown to go along with major interest from Oregon State and Mississippi State.
