Big Weekend For VCU

Jeff Capel's VCU Rams are coming up on some busy weekends. The CAA program is hosting a number of prospects in the coming weeks.

There'll be plenty of new faces on the VCU roster this year as the Rams picked up two transfers during the busy summer. Marshall forward Reynardo Dixon is a Ram. So is former Virginia Tech big man Deonte Smith.

The Rams also have one committed from the Class of 2004. Virginia Beach Landstown senior small forward Michael Anderson. The 6-7, 205 pounder had been hearing from a number of mid-major programs and Providence was reported to be keeping tabs on him.

The Rams have two scholarships remaining in the Class of 2004. They have a big recruiting weekend on Sept. 13. Quincy Williams, the brother of Duke standout Shelden Williams, is in town for the weekend. He'll be joined by Jamal Shuler and Chris Gaynor, a pair of North Carolina standouts.

Shuler is a multi-positional guard and Gaynor played for the 2002 National Champion Kappa Magic AAU team. He's a big time student-athlete.

Folarin Campbell is also on the Rams radar and he visited CAA rival George Mason on Sept. 6. Campbell is a standout shooter.
