Source: Lauri Markanen to go pro, sign with an agent

Finnish star Lauri Markkanen is entering the 2017 NBA Draft, according to sources.

Arizona's Lauri Markkanen is declaring for the NBA Draft and is expected to sign with an agent, multiple sources told Scout.

Markkanen is leaving Arizona following a tremendous freshman season, where he averaged 15.6 points and 7.2 rebounds a game, and helped lead the Wildcats to a 32-5 record.

"Lauri is as elite of a shooter as you'll find at 7-feet outside of the NBA," Scout national analyst Josh Gershon said.

"He's not just a shooter," he added. "He can put the ball on the ground, finish around the basket, is a plus athlete for his size and is an improved shot blocker with rebounding upside. He has one of the highest floors in the NBA Draft."

Markkanen, a native of Finland, made 69 three-pointers on the year and shot 42-percent from behind the three-point stripe.

In DraftExpress' latest mock draft, Markkanen is slotted to go No. 8 overall.
