Kelvin Sampson and his Houston Cougars staff have placed a premium on keeping their share of the quality local talent home. On Saturday the Cougars got excellent news with the commitment of Cedrick Alley.
Alley, who is a tough and athletic interior player, made the decision to attend Houston after making several visits to the school and being a long time priority recruit for Sampson and his staff. During his senior season Alley showed improved skill to go with his length, athleticism, and toughness, and it put him square on the radar of high-major programs.
Most recently it was Texas A&M that picked up the interest. Also schools such as Boise State and Florida International wanted Alley and were doing everything to get him out of Houston.
In the end it was the persistence of Sampson and his staff that led to the commitment. This is the second local pledge for the Cougars. Alley joins power forward Fabian White in the Cougars class giving them a pair of local products to anchor their front court.
