Mayan Kiir asks VCU for release

Mayan Kiir, who committed and signed with VCU in mid-November, asked for a release this week.

2017 big man Mayan Kiir has requested a release from his Letter of Intent to Virginia Commonwealth, Bradenton (Fla.) Victory Rock Prep coach Loren Jackson told Scout.

"We've request it through clearing house," he said.

At this time, Kiir, a four-star 6-foot-9 power forward, is still waiting for the release and doesn't have an updated list of potential schools, according to Jackson.

Kiir originally committed to the Rams in mid-November, selecting them over Illinois, LSU and NC State.

VCU's 2017 recruiting class now consists of Sean Mobley and Marcus Santos-Silva.
