Jeremiah Tilmon asks for release from Illinois

Illinois made the decision to part with John Groce after the season, and now five-star Jeremiah Tilmon is going to explore his options.

Five-star prospect Jeremiah Tilmon has been a long time commitment for Illinois. He committed over the summer to John Groce and since then signed his Letter of Intent. However on Wednesday the Illini got some bad news as Tilmon announced he will look at all of his options.

"My family and I feel it is only fair that we hear all opportunities and not be stuck in one situation," Tilmon announced in regards to his status with Illinois.

Tilmon however would not totally rule out Illinois because of his relationship with assistant coach Jamall Walker.

"Illinois will always remain an option because of my ongoing relationship with Coach Walker, but this is my future and I need to be certain before coming to campus in June," said Tilmon.

At this point it is unclear if Tilmon has been granted his requested release from his Letter of Intent. However it is fair to think that if he does he will have a long list of schools coming after him given his ability to rebound and block shots, along with his upside on the offensive end.
