Furman is promoting Bob Richey to head coach, a source told Scout.
Richey, who has spent the past six years on Furman's staff, agreed to a five-year deal with the school early Friday morning, according to a source.
Richey will replace Niko Medved, who left the Paladins after four seasons for Drake in late March.
Furman interviewed Winthrop assistant Mark Prosser and Marquette's Chris Carrawell before opting to keep the job in house.
Richey has been a major part of Furman's recruiting efforts, as he was the lead recruiter for the past two SoCon Player of the Years -- Stephen Croone and Devin Sibley.
Prior to Furman, Richey spent five years as a coach at Charleston Southern.
