Gerald Liddell

Gerald Liddell is a top priority for many high-major programs

BENTONVILLE, Ark - Five-star forward Gerald Liddell had an impressive showing day one of the MADE Hoops Warm Up event. The athletic wing put on a show, and proved why college coaches are making him a priority recruit in 2018.

It is a busy time for Gerald Liddell. He is coming off of a successful high school season, and also is hosting coaches at his school as well as playing with RM5 Elite on the summer travel circuit.

About his high school year overall, Liddell said, "The high school year went pretty good, but it ended pretty early. Individually I had a good season though, and I think everybody improved."

When it comes to his recruitment, a lot of schools are involved with Liddell. Nearly all of the in-state programs are making him a priority, and several other colleges have also been in to see him.

"So far it has been Virginia, Notre Dame, TCU, and some of the other in-state schools, and then Arizona is coming to see me soon," noted Liddell.

Arizona is in the mix for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is his familiarity with Tucson.

About the Wildcats, Liddell said, "I really love it out there. I used to live out there and that is where my mom is from so I have a lot of family in the area. Whenever I am out there I go and check out the school and talk to the coaches so it is good with Arizona."

Maybe the school that Liddell has seen the most is Baylor. Scott Drew and his staff have put in a lot of work with Liddell and continue to show him significant attention.

"They give me the pitch that they really want me and I am one of their top guys," said Liddell of Baylor. "I really love it there because I am real tight with the team and I like the coaches as well."

Also Texas has made Liddell a major priority, and the Longhorns are trying to keep Liddell close to home.

"I really like Texas," said Liddell. "They didn’t have that good of a season, but they tell me how they want to build around the top Texas players like me, so I like that. Also I really like Coach Shaka Smart."

While at the moment Liddell isn't close to narrowing down his list or making a final college decision, he does know what he is looking for in a school.

"I want to go where I have a great relationships with the coaches and players," said Liddell. "And of course education will also be very important."
